Friends, Fun and Belonging

for People with Developmental Disabilities

“Our daughter is genuinely excited about seeing her friends and meeting new ones at The Center” – parent of a 10-year old

The Center for Enriched Living (The Center) is a privately funded non-profit agency serving the social needs of people all ages with developmental disabilities – such as Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X syndrome. The Center is the place that brings friends and peers together – to benefit from life-long learning and enrichment, to enjoy social activities, and to be an active part of the community. The Center has been serving the Chicago-area for more than 42 years.

The Center offers more than 30 different social and recreation programs to meet the interests and needs of people ages 5 to 75, with developmental disabilities. Programs operate 7-days a week – including evenings and weekends. For younger members, The Center offers afterschool clubs, weekend social programming and summer camps. For adults in their post-school life, The Center offers REACH – a day program that provides opportunities for social experiences, work and volunteer experiences, leisure activities, community life, and much more.

“Our goal is to find a place where our son is continually learning new skills, as well as perfecting those he already has. Above all, the most important thing is that he is happy and feeling like a productive member of his community. We checked out a number of programs before deciding on The Center…no other program in the Chicago area is even in the same league” – parent of a 24 year old
