ACTIVITY INSTRUCTOR II

Activity Instructor II, Part-time position, includes day, evening, weekend hours

 

The Activity Instructor II works under the direction of the Program Supervisor to lead innovative social, recreational and educational activities for people with developmental disabilities.  Ensure that programs run as directed so that members learn new skills, connect to the community and have fun through meaningful experiences and relationships.   This position will also provide recommendations to supervisor to improve program performance.

 

Additionally, the Activity Instructor II will be responsible for driving and transporting members in CEL vehicles; serve as appropriate role model for members and act in a professional manner – showing respect to all members, staff and stakeholders.  CEL believes that everyone’s unique contributions and differences are respected, member rights and confidentiality are honored and a person-centered philosophy is practiced.

Qualifications:

Must be 21 years of age or older

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) ); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least one-year experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to understand and speak English clearly and fluently.
  • Possess general knowledge of games, sports, group activities and other recreation and leisure interests.
  • Ability to be creative and flexible with groups.
  • Must have strong teamwork, communication and effective time management skills

REACH 3:1 PERSONAL SUPPORT INSTRUCTOR

Part-time position reporting to REACH Program Supervisor

Summary
Under the direction of the REACH Program Supervisor, aid assigned individual(s) with toileting and feeding (up to three individuals). Be of assistance to other REACH instructors in toileting specific 1:1 members. As needed, be response person for behavior intervention for specific REACH members. Provide support with specific groups that remain in the building and assist when needed with community outings. Encourage full participation of the individual(s) to the best of their ability. Assist in the completion of assessments, reports and daily progress notes for assigned member(s). Contribute to the development and implementation of the REACH for Success Plan. Serve as appropriate role model for member. Act in a professional manner; show respect to all members, parents/family members, staff and stakeholders. Observe member rights, confidentiality and practice a person-centered philosophy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Aid in toileting or other personal care needs and be familiar with members’ dietary and feeding restrictions/needs.
  • Implement and monitor behavior programs.
  • Inform Manager of daily observations regarding members’ behavior.
  • Complete administrative and program record keeping such as: monitor and track members’ participation, responses and progress, incident reports, behavior logs and attend REACH for Success meeting.
  • Continually supervise and be actively involved with the member(s) in their assigned group.
  • Maintain the physical appearance of the assigned program areas and vans.
  • Organize and maintain necessary program supplies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of member information.
  • Represent CEL in a professional manner when in the community.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers and volunteers.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service training as required.
  • Utilize approved Center systems, policies and procedures in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Maintain regular and consistent work attendance.
  • Dress appropriately for job being performed.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

Other

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one-year experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to understand and speak English clearly and fluently.
  • Possess general knowledge of games, sports, group activities and other recreation and leisure interests.

REACH NORTHWEST 1:1 INSTRUCTOR

Part-time, non-exempt position 25-30 hours/week

Summary
The Center for Enriched Living is opening REACH Northwest in Hoffman Estates and has an opening for a 1:1 Instructor. Under the direction of the REACH Program Supervisor, assist assigned individual(s) with community service projects, volunteer projects and in other life skill training areas. REACH NORTHWEST INSTRUCTOR

Full-time, reporting to REACH Program Supervisor

The REACH Northwest program is hiring a full-time instructor, hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

About the Position

  • Work individually and/or with other staff to implement, organize and lead activities with assigned group.
  • Continually supervise and be actively involved with all members in assigned group.
  • Run organized and well executed programs.
  • Implement and monitor behavior programs, assist with toileting or other personal care needs and be familiar with members’ dietary and feeding restrictions/needs.
  • Transport members safely to and from CEL. Complete required paperwork, gas-up vehicles and complete vehicle maintenance checks.
  • Complete administrative and program record keeping such as: class attendance, member evaluations, incident reports, daily progress notes, goal tracking, etc.
  • Establish cooperative working relations with parents, community agencies and organizations.
  • Maintain the physical appearance of the assigned program areas and vans. Organize and maintain necessary program supplies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of member information.
  • Represent CEL in a professional manner when in the community.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers and volunteers.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service training as required.
  • Utilize approved CEL systems, policies and procedures in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Maintain regular and consistent work attendance.
